Copper Mountain wants to make sure you have everything you need to succeed. The CMC Promise Program offers tuition at no cost for qualifying students.
CMC Promise Program 2026-2027
To qualify for the First Year CMC Promise Program, you must:
- File a Financial Aid Application (FAFSA or CADAA) for the 2026/2027 year
- Be a first-time first year college student and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA
- Be a California Resident, AB540 eligible, or otherwise eligible under CMC’s residency guidelines
- Be enrolled in at least 12 units (You are expected to complete at least 12 units)
- Students enrolled in 12 or more units will receive:
- Tuition at no cost; still have to pay $5 student fees
- Students enrolled in 12 or more units will receive:
To qualify for the Second Year CMC Promise Program, you must:
- File a Financial Aid Application (FAFSA or CADAA) for the 2026/2027 year
- Be a first-time second year college student and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA
- Be a California Resident, AB540 eligible, or otherwise eligible under CMC’s residency guidelines
- Be enrolled in at least 12 units (You are expected to complete at least 12 units)
- Students enrolled in 12 or more units will receive:
- Tuition at no cost; you still have to pay $5 student fees
- Students enrolled in 12 or more units will receive:
Tuition via the California College Promise Grant (CCPG – formerly known as BOG Waiver):
- You don’t have to pay tuition
- You do have to pay student fees ($5 Student Government fees each fall and spring semester)
We collect eligibility from the FAFSA or CADAA application and include it automatically, if eligible.
If you don’t qualify for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG – formerly known as the BOG Waiver), tuition is due; however, you may be refunded the tuition amount after the deadline to drop with a refund. The Student Government fee is not waived and is still due for the fall and spring terms.
Copper Mountain Promise Program will run as long as there is State funding. Portions or all of this program are subject to change as State funding may change.

Institutions are able to determine if students are eligible for Promise Program(s) on an individual basis. With the changes that COVID-19 has introduced, many students had extenuating circumstances, which may have affected unit completion. At CMC, we look at each application and make a
determination for eligibility.
