Incoming college freshman, Annie Hilderbrand of Yucca Valley, has been appointed by Copper Mountain Community College District Superintendent/President Dr. Daren Otten as the 2020-2021 Student Representative to the Copper Mountain College Foundation Board of Directors.
The CMC Foundation’s board is fiscally and legally responsible for the health and well-being of over seven million dollars in assets, including the F. Roy Greenleaf Scholarship Fund.
As the Foundation Student Rep, Hilderbrand is the voice of students to the Foundation, providing guidance on their current needs, the campus climate, and how best to utilize donor dollars to achieve student success.
“I have no doubt Annie will be an outstanding ambassador for the Foundation both on campus and in the community. She is an astonishing young woman and we’re excited that she is joining us as a freshman,” commented Sandy Smith, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Hilderbrand will graduate from Yucca Valley High School in June with over a 4.0 GPA; she will be sworn in later this month as a full voting board member and her term will be one year, but can be renewed by the CMC Superintendent/President.
Hilderbrand, who grew up in the desert, plans on studying environmental science at CMC and has received both the Southern California Edison STEM scholarship and the CMC Alumni Association Scholarship for the coming year.
According to Ms. Hilderbrand, “My life goal is to work in environmental conservation in order to preserve the national park system for future generations.”
