Jeanne Clery Act
JEANNE CLERY DISCLOSURE OF CAMPUS SECURITY AND CAMPUS CRIME STATISTICS ACT
BACKGROUND
In 1998, the federal government passed the “Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act”, formerly known as The Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1990. This law requires colleges and universities receiving federal funding to disclose the reported instances of criminal activity on their campus.
The law specifically requires the reporting of violent crime, burglary, and motor vehicle theft as well as a summary of arrests and disciplinary referrals for liquor law, drug abuse, and weapons violations.
SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY
It is our desire to provide the student, the faculty, and the workforce with a safe and secure learning and working environment. It is our desire to encourage voluntary compliance and foster a peaceful research and educational experience for all. This information is a part of our effort to do just that.
CRIME STATISTICS
Under the Jeanne Clery Act, the Copper Mountain Community College District annually distributes statistics on the reported occurrences. These statistics are available on our webpage and as part of the Annual Security Report.
