Alicia Mendez moved to the High Desert in 2021. She is a student advocate, adjunct professor in social sciences, and a researcher. Originally from Seattle, Washington she received her Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University in New Jersey and is a doctoral candidate in social work. She believes in prioritizing minoritized students and has served in numerous capacities to push education to be actively anti-racist and more equitable. In her free time she enjoys reading, rock climbing, spending time with her family, and making unique ice cream flavors.
