Copper Mountain College is applying to bring The Wall That Heals, the 3/4-sized traveling version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to Joshua Tree in 2027. The Wall That Heals is operated by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 1980 to build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The Wall That Heals has been to more than 800 communities across the country since 1996. With it come a mobile education center that presents “The War and The Wall,” as well as Hometown Heroes, the In Memory Honor Roll, and Items Left Behind – a display of items left at The Wall, and other relevant memorabilia.
The first organizational meeting for the application process will be held at 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Greenleaf Library in the 300 Quad on the CMC campus in Joshua Tree. CMC The community is invited to attend, and most of all, to participate in this effort. An organizational committee will be established, volunteers recruited, and suggested dates for the visit proposed.
Information will be added to this page through August 31, 2026 when the application is due, and, if the application is accepted, on an ongoing basis through the visit of The Wall That Heals in 2027.
There are numerous ways to become involved in the effort to bring The Wall That Heals to the hi-desert. Organizations, businesses, governmental agencies, and individuals are welcome to join the effort.
