On Friday, September 11, Copper Mountain College invites students, faculty, staff, and the campus community to come together for 9/11 We Remember: A Reflection 25 Years Later, commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The morning begins at 8:00 a.m. at the 100 Quad Flagpole with a memorial ceremony featuring the lowering of the flag to half-staff, a moment of silence, and remarks from President Darren Otten. At 8:30 a.m. in the Student Activity Center (300 Quad), we will screen In Their Own Words: Commemorating the 25th Anniversary from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, followed by a guided community reflection. Through first-person stories, we’ll explore themes of interdependence, perseverance, service, purpose, hope, and resilience. Following the program, participants can contribute to Common Threads, a collaborative ribbon installation responding to the question, “What connects us during difficult times?” The event is free, light refreshments will be available, and RSVPs are requested for the film screening and reflection. Whether you remember September 11 personally, learned about it growing up, or were born after that day, we invite you to join the CMC community as we remember, reflect, and carry hope forward.
