How important dates are calculated
Refund
deadline and last day to add (Title 5, Section 58508)
- For short-term credit sections, districts
must provide a 100 percent enrollment fee refund if a student drops on or
before the point that equals 10 percent of the total section length.
- The Colleague system requires the refund
deadline and the last day to add to be the same date.
First census
date (Title 5, Section 58003) and census drop date (Title 5, Section 58004)
- The census date is the day nearest to the
end of the first 20 percent of the section length.
- The census drop date is the business day
immediately before the census date.
The second
census date, which occurs at 60 percent of the section length, is used for
noncredit online sections.
Withdrawal
deadlines (Title 5, Section 55024)
- The last day to withdraw without a W is
set at 30 percent of the section length. Colleges may not receive
apportionment for students who do not receive a letter grade, including a
W.
- The last day to withdraw with a W follows
Board policy and is set at 75 percent for CMC.
