Vice President of Academic and Student Success Community Forum at Copper Mountain College

Copper Mountain College (CMC) has named Dr. David Norton, Dr. Rolando Regino, and Dr. Gregorio Sandoval the three finalists for the District’s Vice President of Academic and Student Success position. The District’s goal is to have the Vice President of Academic and Student Success start July 1, 2016.

The Board of Trustees would like to invite the Morongo Basin community to attend the community forums; May 18, 2016 at 3:00pm; and May 19, 2016 12:30pm and 1:30pm in the Bell Center Community Room. Additionally, there will be a video recording of the forums on CMC’s website (www.cmccd.edu) for public viewing. The community forums will introduce each finalist, and allow the employees and community members to ask questions of the candidates.

Dr. David Norton currently serves as the Interim Vice President of Academic and Student Success for Copper Mountain College. Prior to his interim position, he served as the Coordinator for Developmental Education at Copper Mountain College from 2011 – 2015. Previously, he served as a Full-time English Faculty member at Calhoun Community College, Huntsville, AL 2010 – 2011 and East Los Angeles College, Monterey Park, CA 2006 – 2010. Dr. Norton was awarded his Ph.D. in English and Critical Theory in 1994 from the University of Washington.

Dr. Rolando Regino has been serving as the Dean of Instruction for Victor Valley Community College since 2015. From 2011 – 2014, he severed as the Dean of S.T.E.M. at Victory Valley Community College. Dr. Regino also held an Interim position in 2011 as the Interim Director of Evening Operations, Instructional Support Programs for Victor Valley Community College. Dr. Regino was awarded his Ph.D. in Education in 2009 from Capella University.

Dr. Gregorio Sandoval is currently serving as an Educational Consultant for GRS Educational Consulting Services here in California. Prior to working with GRS, he served as the Vice President of Student Services for Moreno Valley Community College from 2010 – 2014. Dr. Sandoval also served in an Interim position as the Interim Vice President of Student Services for Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista from 2009 – 2010. From 2003 – 2008, Dr. Sandoval served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Southwestern Community College. Dr. Sandoval was awarded his Ed.D. in Education Leadership in 2011 from San Diego State University.
