SUMMARY:CMC at Literacy is Life event
DESCRIPTION:The Morongo Unified School District is thrilled to invite the community to an engaging and inspiring event\, “Literacy is Life\,” taking place on Sunday\, March 2nd\, from 1:00–4:00 PM at Freedom Plaza in Twentynine Palms. This event aims to celebrate the joy of reading\, expand our collective understanding of literacy and foster a love for lifelong learning within the community.  Copper Mountain College faculty will be on hand to discuss literacy and the arts at CMC. \n“Literacy is Life” will feature a variety of interactive literacy activities\, community booths and an impressive display of student works. Attendees will also enjoy engaging story-time read-alouds\, where local educators\, community leaders and special guests will bring stories to life. \n“We believe that literacy extends far beyond reading and writing—it is the key to opportunity\, creativity and empowerment\,” said Katie Fleischman\, Literacy Coach at Morongo Unified School District. \n“This event is a wonderful way for families\, students and community members to come together and celebrate the power of literacy\,” said Melissa Stacey\, Literacy Coach at Morongo Unified School District. \nThe event is free and open to the public and will include live music\, free food\, giveaways and more. Whether you are an avid reader or just beginning your literacy journey\, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. \nIn preparation for the event\, all schools in the district will participate in a district-wide spirit week for Read Across America Week. Join in on the fun with the following dress-up days: \n\nMonday\, Feb. 24: Fox in Sox – Wear crazy socks\nTuesday\, Feb. 25: Reading Jogs the Mind – Wear your best athletic gear\nWednesday\, Feb. 26: Cozy Up with a Good Book – Rock your best pajamas or sleepwear\nThursday\, Feb. 27: We Have a Bright Future – Wear college or career gear\nFriday\, Feb. 28: Read Across America – Dress up as your favorite book character\nJoin us on March 2nd as we embrace the power of literacy and inspire a future full of knowledge\, imagination and discovery.
