DESCRIPTION:Every year\, CMC celebrates the artistic and literary talents of our campus community\, and the community at large\, with HOWL Art & Literary Magazine.  Students\, faculty\, staff\, administrators\, and members of the community\, are invited to submit their poetry\, short stories\, artwork\, and photography for consideration for publication in HOWL. \nThis year\, we’re hosting a Welcome Week literary reading – Till A’The Seas Gang Dry – on Monday\, February 2\, from noon to 2 p.m.\, at the 300 Quad Amphitheatre.  Everyone is welcome to attend\, and to read their work\, or the work of Scotland’s national poet\, Robbie Burns\, as his birthday falls toward the end of January.  Come read your poems or essays\, or your favorite poems\, Robbie Burns’ poems\, or sing a song in honor of Burns (he wrote one song we all sing – do you know which one?) and learn how to participate in\, and be published in\, HOWL 2026.

CalFresh provides monthly food benefits through an EBT card\, allowing students and families to purchase groceries at most supermarkets\, farmers’ markets\, and select online retailers. \nStarting November 1\, many students and their families will not receive these benefits until federal funding is restored. We have already heard of numerous situations and stories from students at CMC who will be impacted. If you know or hear of students who will go without their benefits this month\, CalFresh flyer has a list of local\, county\, and state resources that students can refer to. \nIn addition\, to assist students during this time\, we will be increasing services in our Basic Needs Center with the following activities: \nWarm Up Winter Drive: \n\nFor the month of November\, we will be holding a Warm Up Winter Drive where we will be collecting winter clothes\, blankets\, sleeping bags\, canned foods\, and toys.\nIf you would like to donate\, please bring your donations to the Basic Needs Center located next to the Library during the month of November.\nDistribution for the collected goods and toys will be at our December Market Days.\n\nMarket Days: \n\nIn collaboration with FIND Food Bank\, we have added additional Market Days to give out fresh grocery items\, meats\, and household products to students.\nThe Market Days in November and December will be focused on holiday foods and goods.\nOur remaining Market Dayswill be on November 18th\, December 10th\, and December 16th.\n\nAs always\, we have the following services available to students year-round: \n\nGrab & Go Food Bags in the Basic Needs Center: Monday – Friday\, 9 am-4 pm.\nKC Special at Jorge’s Cafe: Hot soup daily\, oatmeal on Wednesdays\, and pancakes on Thursdays\, 7-11 am only.

DESCRIPTION:Howlin’ at the Mountain 3 will be a magical desert night to remember!  This major concert features the return of Hopi/Tewa singer/songwriter\, artist\, and edutainer Ed Kabotie with his rock/reggae band\, Tha ‘Yoties.  Opening will be Hunter & the Wick’d.  There will be food\, drinks\, and a night market\, as well as dancing under desert stars in the 300 Quad on the CMC campus.  There will be a ‘Yotie howling contest\, and other fun for all who attend.  The event is part of CMC’s Alumni Weekend festivities during the college’s 25th Anniversary. \nPlease – no outside food or alcohol.  Bring lawn chairs or blankets for sitting on the lawn.  Admissions is by donation to the CMC Foundation. \nLodging for Tha ‘Yoties provided by the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. \n\n
