Full-ride Scholarship at Copper Mountain College

Geanne Weaver is a Greenleaf success story. Chosen as the 2008 Greenleaf Scholar, Geanne’s tuition, fees, and living expenses were all paid from the Greenleaf Education Fund, which is administered by the Copper Mountain College Foundation. The Greenleaf Scholarship allowed her to pursue an education without the worry of finances.

The F. Roy Greenleaf, Jr. Education Fund was established by the estate of F. Roy Greenleaf, Jr. Mr. Greenleaf came to the Morongo Basin in the 1970s and started a community bank. His arrival coincided with the beginning of fundraising for the building of what has become Copper Mountain College, and he became a major donor to the CMC Foundation. In fact, the college’s library is named in his honor. Mr. Greenleaf developed a close relationship with the Friends of Copper Mountain College, the original fundraising arm of the College, and made trust arrangements for his estate to be transferred to the Foundation after the death of his wife Beverlie. Roy Greenleaf died in 1996, his wife passed in 2000.

The Greenleaf Education Fund requires that recipients begin their education at Copper Mountain College. They may then pursue a baccalaureate degree at a campus of their choice within the University of California and California State University systems. After two years at CMC, Weaver left to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at California State University, Long Beach. She subsequently graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a Master of Arts Degree in Education and Counseling in 2014.

“I am increasingly grateful for the opportunities the Greenleaf Scholarship gave me,” states Weaver, Director of Admissions and Outreach at Fusion Academy in Southlake, Texas. “I have an amazing career doing what I love. Working with students who think outside of the box and struggle with mental health and/or unique learning challenges has always been where my heart was!”

As you can see from Geanne’s story, the Greenleaf Scholarship can completely change your life. Copper Mountain College Foundation encourages all graduating seniors in the Morongo Basin to apply for the prestigious Greenleaf Scholarship. The deadline for submission is 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
