Districting

The Copper Mountain Community College District Board of Trustees is currently soliciting applications for residents wishing to serve as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees representing Trustee Area 5 for a two-year term, commencing at the February 2023 Board Meeting.

Applicants must reside in Trustee Area 5 of the District and meet all legal requirements to serve, including being of 18 years of age, a citizen of the State of California, a registered voter, and not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any state law.

The Board of Trustees adopted a By-Trustee Area election process in December 2021, dividing the District into five Trustee Areas for election purposes.

Interested residents within Area 5 in the City of Twentynine Palms may forward questions and application form requests to Ariana Muniz, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent/President, at amuniz@cmccd.edu, or call 760-366-3791 extension 5441 for more information.

Candidate names must be received no later than Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 5 p.m. to be considered for appointment. The Board of Trustees will interview applicants, deliberate, and determine whether to make an appointment during the public Board Meeting in February.

Trustee Area 5: The region bounded and described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway/Highway 62 and Adobe Road running north along the centerline of Adobe Road to its intersection with Del Valle Drive; then northwest along the centerline of Del Valle Drive and continuing generally north all the centerline of Rainbow Canyon Road to its intersection with Rifle Range Road; then east along the centerline of Rifle Range Road and continuing generally east along the edge of Census Block 060710104021093 to its intersection with Bagdad Highway; then south along the centerline of Bagdad Highway and its logical extension to its intersection with the northwest corner of parcel 063-432-104; the east along the northern edge of parcel 063-432-104 to its intersection with Bagdad Outer highway; then Copper Mountain Community College District Trustee Area Descriptions Page 5 south along the centerline of Bagdad Outer highway and continuing south along the centerline of Bagdad Highway to its intersection with Valle Vista Road; then east along the centerline of Valley Vista Road to its intersection with Bullion Mountain Road; then south along the centerline of Bullion Mountain Road to its intersection with Twentynine Palms Highway/Highway 62; then west along the centerline of Twentynine Palms Highway/Highway 62 to the point of origin.
