Copper Mountain College Celebrates 2016 Graduates

Copper Mountain College (CMC) will recognize its Vocational Nursing Program Class of 2016 and Registered Nursing Program Class of 2016 graduates during a Pinning Ceremony on May 25, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. in the Bell Center Gymnasium at the Bell Center on the CMC campus. The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored celebration recognizing the completion of the rigorous course of study and welcoming these newly graduated students into the nursing profession. The students have asked Mr. Jeff Cummings, Superintendent/President, LCDR Esther M. Colbert, Dawn Page, RN MSN, and Heidi Steines, RN MSN, to speak during the ceremony. The student speakers will be Amber McGrath, SVN, Nichole Cauley, SRN and Cortni Fike, SRN.

In addition, the Commencement Ceremony for 2016 graduates will be held the following day, May 26, 2016, at 5:45 p.m. in the Bell Center Gymnasium.

CMC will award 274 degrees. Of those, 35 students are receiving two degrees, five students are earning three degrees, seven students are receiving four degrees and one student is receiving five degrees. CMC will award 93 certificates of achievement and 85 graduates will receive certificates along with their degrees.

“It has truly been an exciting year with the largest graduating class in the history of Copper Mountain College”, says Jeff Cummings, Superintendent/ President. “We are honored to celebrate this milestone with the friends and families of our graduates”.

The Commencement Ceremony speakers include: keynote speaker, David Smith, Superintendent for the Joshua Tree National Park; faculty speaker, John Holley, Mathematics Professor; and honor graduate speaker, Shelley M. Nutaitis who will be receiving two Associate degrees in Psychology and Sociology.
