Copper Mountain College (CMC) is issuing an open call to staff, students and community members to participate in the creation and design of the new CMC “Fighting Cacti” Mascot.
Those who are interested in participating should submit black and white original CMC “Fighting Cacti” Mascot artwork in the form of a sketch or graphic design. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 5, 2017 by 10 am. Please submit your artwork to the CMC Public Relations Office, 6162 Rotary Way, Joshua Tree, CA, room 114 or via email at jalpin@cmccd.edu. All submissions of artwork must be accompanied by a signed release form relinquishing all rights to Copper Mountain College for each design. The individual whose design(s) is selected will receive two free season passes for entry to the home games of the 2017-18 Basketball season.
Copper Mountain College’s Marketing Committee will use the submissions to select the final version of the new CMC “Fighting Cacti” Mascot. The unveiling of the new Fighting Cacti Mascot will occur during the 2017-18 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Season.
Devin Aye, Men’s Basketball Head Coach and Athletic Director stated “The CMC Athletic Department is very excited to see the vision this community has for our Fighting Cacti Mascot. We know there are many great ideas, and talented artists in this community. We can’t wait to have a Mascot that best represents the CMC Fighting Cacti.”
Copper Mountain College’s first home game for the 2017-18 Basketball Season is on November 11th when the men’s team will play against Santa Monica. On November 14th there will be a doubleheader with the first women’s home game followed by the men’s team against Imperial Valley. CMC hopes to see you all there!
