Cacti Chronicles Digital Edition for March 6, 2023

News from the Mountain - Copper Mountain College, the new radio show for CMC.

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, March 7, our new weekly radio show debuts on Z-107.7 FM.  News from the Mountain – Copper Mountain College, hosted by 2022 Greenleaf Scholar Juliana Jimenez, will be broadcast Tuesday mornings at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Joshua Tree’s Z-107.7 FM.  Each week’s show will be a brief look at upcoming events and other campus news.  Juliana is not only hosting, but is also helping with editing and producing the shows in our new media production studio.

The Oscar Meyer wienermobile at CMC.

For all of you hot dog fans, the Oscar Meyer wienermobile is here on campus this morning.  While we had hoped they were here to host a cook-out to start off our Monday, it turns out that they’re staying at a vacation rental nearby and the wienermobile couldn’t make it up the dirt road.  If you’re a fan, catch it before they leave around 11 a.m. this morning.

2023 Minerva Hoyt Intern Kaeliegh Watson

If you’re out and about, pick up a copy of the March issue of Joshua Tree Voice magazine and read the story about our Minerva Hoyt Intern, Kaeliegh Watson.  We’re proud of Kaeliegh’s accomplishments, and of the opportunities the internship creates for CMC students.  The Minerva Hoyt Internship is made possible through a partnership with the Pasadena Garden Club, the Joshua Tree National Park Association, and CMC.

One last thing – LunaFest is coming this Wednesday to commemorate International Women’s Day, thanks to the combined efforts of the CMC EEO Committee, the CMC Foundation, Campus Experience, and Soroptimist International of Yucca Valley.  It’s a well-curated selection of short films sure to stimulate thought and discussion.  The 11 a.m. screening includes a free lunch for the first 50 attendees along with a chance to share a bit about women who have inspired you, and there will be an additional 6 p.m. screening with Luna Bars and popcorn.  The event is free and open to the public.
