President's Welcome

Welcome to Copper Mountain College, the “college built by the community for the community.” The faculty and staff are proud to provide the Morongo Basin with a wide array of courses and programs that will enable you to achieve your academic and career goals. Our academic programs will prepare you for transfer to a four-year college or university, train you to enter high-skill, high-wage careers, or provide for job-retraining or personal enrichment. While at Copper Mountain College, you may participate in personal enrichment, artistic and cultural events, and student leadership activities. The college is your community college, and we seek to be an integral part of your personal and professional development.

Some classes are offered in the traditional eighteen-week format, others are compressed into shorter periods of time, and some have a later starting date. This type of scheduling allows more flexibility in your choices, and is of great benefit to working students and members of the armed services returning from overseas deployment.

The central focus of Copper Mountain College is to create a stimulating learning environment, an environment in which you can prepare for tomorrow and all that the future can bring. The faculty and staff constantly engage in activities designed to enhance the learning environment and provide for the ever-changing needs of the Morongo Basin communities. We strive to provide the best instructional technology and experiences possible for our students. Should you need financial assistance, I encourage you to stop by the Financial Aid Office in the Student Services building in the lower portion of the campus. If you need assistance with your classes or study skills, please stop by the Student Success Center in Room 8.

By now, the new General Ernie Reid Bookstore has been completed, making it much easier for you to purchase your necessary books, supplies and CMC logo apparel. Construction of our long-anticipated Multi-use Sports Complex and preparation for the remodel for efficiency should begin during the spring semester, bringing about a major transformation of the college campus. This is the beginning of several new construction projects that will occur over the next few years. These are indeed exciting times for Copper Mountain College.

Our students are our main source of pride here at CMC. The determination, drive, and discipline you demonstrate on a daily basis as you pursue your goals are truly inspiring. We wish you continued success as you continue your educational journey. Your success is our success!

Sincerely,

Patricia F. Caldwell, Ph.D.
Interim Superintendent/President
