The Program is three (3) continuous semesters long in addition to prerequisite coursework. A new group of students begins each June and finishes the following May. The Program courses consist of a Theory course and a Lab course in each semester. Both courses (Theory and Lab) must be successfully completed each semester before the student can progress to the next semester. A failing grade for any reason (eg performance, grades, safety, etc.) results in the failure of both sections of the course.

Upon successful completion of the program a certificate in Vocational Nursing is awarded and the student is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Vocational Nursing in the state of California. An Associate Degree in Vocational Nursing may be pursued if desired.

The Vocational Nursing Program requires attendance at classes five days out of every seven. Some portion of these days may occur on weekends, evening and/or weekend hours.

There are four (4) required courses in addition to the actual nursing courses that must be completed to satisfy the program requirements. Read the “Application Instructions and FAQ’s” and “Vocational Nursing Program Pre/Co-requisites” documents which are accessed by using the links at the right hand column of this page. Click on the document name to open the document.

If the admitted student chooses to also pursue the degree in Vocational Nursing, there will be additional coursework that is required by the college and the student will need to meet with a counselor to develop a student education plan. Additional information is contained in the Copper Mountain College Catalog that can be accessed from the college homepage at www.cmccd.edu.
