You must have a current
California Certified Nurses Assistant Certificate.
The Home Health Aide program prepares men
and women to assist with the routine care and treatments of
clients in their homes. These services include personal
health care as well as food purchasing, meal planning,
laundry, and light housekeeping. Successful completion of
the program results in eligibility to take the state
approved tests that lead to certification as a Home Health
Aide. The course of study includes 27 hours of classroom
instruction and 27 hours of supervised clinical experience.
Students wishing to enter the program must be currently
certified in California as a nursing assistant and have
completed the College assessment tests demonstrating
eligibility for English 51. Specific information regarding
the program may be obtained by calling or writing to the
Health Sciences’ Office. This course expands on the content
taught in the nursing assistant course to provide
prepararation for care of residents in home care settings.
Content emphasizes personal care, basic communication,
safety, meal planning, and maintaining a healthful
environment. You must have a current California CNA license. |
