Copper Mountain College (CMC), nestled in the village of Joshua Tree within the Morongo Basin, serves the rural, gateway communities adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park in the high desert just north of Palm Springs. The CMC Foundation (CMCF) has a long history of supporting educational excellence by funding scholarships, campus events, student competitions, academic programs and infrastructure improvements.
Recognized by President Reagan in 1984 as the "Community College Built By The Community," CMC's initial construction was built entirely by local, private funds solicited by the Foundation, then known as the Friends of CMC.
CMCF celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2009. The legacy of achievement and support continues with the construction of the Bell Center named for Yucca Valley residents William and Leota Bell who provided the community match required for state funding.
