Academic, Advising, and Personal Counseling
We provide individual and group counseling to help you with career and educational goal setting, develop your Student Educational Plan (SEP), assist with life management issues, and develop a plan for transferring to a four-year college or university.
Transfer Counseling and Assistance
We want you to have the smoothest possible transition to a four-year college or university. We offer workshops and personal advising sessions to help with selecting your next college, completing college applications, and guiding you through the scholarship and financial aid process. We also take Transfer Empowerment Students on trips to visit four-year colleges and universities.
Career Information
Trying to decide on your next career? Having trouble choosing a major? We can guide you through your career research so you make a major and career choice that fits you! We will help you to connect your personal strengths and interests with potential careers. Once you figure out what you want to be, we'll help you get there.
Math Enhancement and Confidence Building
The Transfer Empowerment Program offers three special math related supportive services: a Summer Math Enhancement Seminar, seminars designed to alleviate math anxiety issues, and supplemental instruction, which is special math tutoring.
Tutoring
Need help with Math? Biology? English? We can help. For TEP students, tutoring is always free and we make every effort to set you up with a knowledgeable tutor in the classes you need assistance with. Just stop in and see one of our counselors to start.
Cultural Events and Activities
Remember field trips? As part of the Transfer Empowerment Program you will have the opportunity to visit museums, attend performances, and participate in cultural events with other students. All free of charge.
Workshops
Stressed? Having trouble balancing your time? Overwhelmed with the financial aid process? We offer workshops on these topics and much more! Topics vary each semester.
Eligibility
Students MUST MEET AT LEAST ONE of the following criteria to be eligible for the Transfer Empowerment Program:
Financial Need: Low-income status as defined by the federal guidelines.
First Generation College Students: Defined as students whose parents did not earn a four-year college degree.
Students with Disabilities: If you have a disability and do not have documentation on file with DSPS, we require a copy of a letter from a Licensed Counseling Professional or Doctor and/or documentation from the Department of Rehabilitation.
In addition, program participants MUST MEET ALL of the following criteria:
Academic Need: Evidence of needed academic assistance is determined by evaluating Copper Mountain College's assessment results and/or previous enrollment in basic skills development classes at another college.
Enrolled at Copper Mountain College: Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in at least 9 units at Copper Mountain College.
Students Qualifying for Federal Student Financial Aid: Students must be eligible to receive Federal Student Financial Aid, even if the student chooses not to accept that aid (Proof of submission to FAFSA).
Transfer: Plan to Transfer to Earn a Four-Year College or University Degree
Degree Status: Freshman status students, which is defined as 30 or less units completed, will be given priority for admission to the Transfer Empowerment Program.

Hours of Operation
Monday - Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm
