Prospective Students

College Application

The first step in the Admissions process is to complete the Application for Enrollment.

California State Residency Policy

Residency requires actual physical presence within California for a minimum of one year prior to the first day of classes. A valid California Driver's License, voter registration proof or state income tax return is required to prove residency.

Non-resident students who attended high school in California for three years and received a high school diploma or its equivalent are exempt from non-resident tuition.

Military personnel are considered California state residents for tuition purposes. Military ID must be presented at registration.

Military family members are considered California state residents for tuition purposes. Military ID must be presented at registration.

Non-resident tuition is $181.00 per unit plus $20.00 enrollment fee totaling $201.00 per unit for U.S. citizens who have not established California residency.

High School Students, while enrolled in high school, may take courses at the college if deemed appropriate by the high school principal or designee and the student's parent or guardian. Candidates for admission must submit a completed Special Admission packet for K-12 students and their assessment results at the time they submit the college application.

International Students

The College does not currently have a program for International students.

Veteran's Services

The Veterans Office is located in the Office of Student Services. Office personnel are available to assist eligible veterans, dependents, and reservists in obtaining their VA educational benefits and achieve their educational goals.

Your Veterans’ Affairs representative is Lynda Burns. She can be reached at 760-366-3791 ext. 5803, or at lburns@cmccd.edu. Please feel free to contact her with any questions or problems.

Veteran Program Course Requirements

Students are required to maintain regular class attendance and satisfactory progress. Veterans, dependent and reservists must declare a major and are responsible for enrolling only in classes required for their major.

Students may receive benefits when repeating a course in which a grade of "F" or "NC" was received if the course is required or if the course is a prerequisite to a required course. In some cases a course in which a "D" was received may be repeated. Notify the Veterans Office of any course you are planning to repeat.
Check with the Veterans Office before registering for a course that does not begin on the first date of the semester and end on the last date of the semester.

The Veterans Office must immediately report status changes as well as withdrawals to the Department of Veterans Affairs. In order to avoid possible overpayment of benefits and subsequent billing from the Department of Veterans Affairs, it is imperative that students collecting benefits report all course changes and withdrawals immediately to the Admissions & Records Office and to the Veterans Office.

Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC)

Copper Mountain College maintains membership in the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC). The SOC concept is based on the fact that military life is keyed to mobility. SOC colleges make every effort to respond to the service member's special need by (1) having admissions policies related to the life conditions of military personnel, (2) providing special services, and (3) giving special consideration to military personnel and veterans making application to Copper Mountain College.

Graduation (Requirements)

Students are responsible for meeting the full requirements for graduation as set forth in the College Catalog. Counselors assist students in planning their program of study, but the final responsibility for meeting graduation requirements rests with the student. Students must complete Intent to Graduate Form the semester prior to graduation. The deadline for filing Intent Forms is the first Monday in October for fall graduates and the first Monday in March for spring graduates.

Honors at Graduation

Copper Mountain Community College encourages scholarship among students through formal recognition of those who graduate with honors. Grade point average (GPA) is cumulative and includes all college work completed at CMC and elsewhere.

To recognize academic accomplishment, students completing associate degree programs with prescribed cumulative grade point averages are recognized at the college commencement exercises and diplomas awarded, as honor students.

High Honors : 3.75-3.89
