Foundation Fall Fundraising Dinner

FOUNDATION’S FALL EVENT FEATURES CONGRESSMAN JERRY LEWIS

JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Copper Mountain College Foundation will hold its annual Fall Fundraising Dinner Saturday evening, October 23, 2010 at the Bell Center on the Copper Mountain College campus in Joshua Tree.

This year’s guest speaker is longtime Congressman and CMC supporter, Jerry Lewis.
In 1984, Congressman Lewis was instrumental in bringing the CMC Foundation, then the Friends of Copper Mountain College, to the attention of President Reagan who honored the Friends at the White House with the Volunteer Action Award for that year. In recognition of his consistent support, the College has named the main road into the Bell Center complex, “Congressman Lewis Drive,” and its dedication will be included in the evening’s festivities.

In 1981, local residents Kay Vilott and Ada Hatch began their fundraising efforts with the sale of a handmade quilt. Their efforts resulted in the creation of the Friends of Copper Mountain College which eventually raised the $1.5 million required to build the first Phase of the college campus. Each year, the CMC Foundation auctions a quilt at the Fall Dinner to honor its humble beginnings. Dr. Roger Wagner, CMC Superintendent/President, will once again auction this year’s CMC honorary quilt, made by local resident, JoAnne Flock of Twentynine Palms.

The event will open with a hosted cocktail hour at 6:00 pm with dinner being served at 7:00 pm. Admission to the dinner and hosted reception is $125 per person, and registration can be completed online at www.theCMCF.org. A wide range of sponsorships are available beginning at $250. All sponsorships include program and website advertising. $1,000 sponsorships also include admission for four to the dinner and reception and $500 sponsorships include admission for two. Sponsorship information is also available online.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the mission of the Copper Mountain College Foundation to expand educational opportunities in the Morongo Basin.
