Copper Mountain College Adds Two new Faculty Members to the Team

COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE ADDS TWO NEW FACULTY MEMBERS TO THE TEAM
JOSHUA TREE, Ca –Beginning spring semester, Copper Mountain College will add two new faculty members to its full-time ranks at the Joshua Tree campus.
Both the new Mathematics and Administration of Justice faculty members bring with them considerable experience. Clayton Steenberg, Administration of Justice faculty member comes to CMC with 19 years of teaching experience and 18 years experience as a police officer. Steenberg holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Western Illinois University. Prior to this assignment at Copper Mountain College, Steenberg was an instructor at Kaplan University, Mohave Community College, Arkansas State University and others. Along with receiving numerous awards such as Police Officer of the Year and Most Inspirational Teacher, Steenberg has contributed to over 25 academic publications.
Dr. Robert Compton who will be joining the Mathematics faculty at Copper Mountain College holds a bachelors degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and both master’s and doctorial degrees from University of San Diego. Compton has held faculty positions at Clark College as well as the University of Portland teaching Calculus, Pre-Calculus and Business Calculus. Dr. Compton’s most recent position was as a Researcher for the Institute of Defense Analysis in San Diego. Dr. Compton previously taught at CMC as an adjunct faculty member.
Cheryl Munsey, Vice President of Academic Affairs said, “We are happy to have both of these highly qualified individuals join our staff. We now have a full-time faculty member in our Administration of Justice program, Professor Steenberg, and look to building that public safety program under his leadership. Professor Compton joins our math faculty where we have experienced a critical need in expanding our faculty in that area.”
