COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE HOSTS RGB MULTI MEDIA COMPETITION
JOSHUA TREE, Ca –The Copper Mountain College Art Department will be hosting the thirteenth annual RGB Multi Media competition on November 18th.
This semester’s event, as always, is a two hour presentation of short slide show/videos that are set to music and soundtracks. In our ever increasing media driven culture the CMC Art Department makes it a priority to educate students on how to make compelling, meaningful, and well edited short digital shows. In an environment of often conflicting digital standards and a multiplicity of output possibilities this event represents the culmination of serious study in at least 5 CMC classes. The competition is open to any currently enrolled CMC student, but alumni of the CMC are also welcomed to show new work.
The RGB of the event’s title refer to the primary colors of light; red, green, and blue which when mixed together in displays on TV sets, computer monitors, and computer projectors form the basis of how we see digital images displayed.
The competition is underwritten by the generous support of the Copper Mountain College Foundation. Each year the Foundation contributes the student academic achievement awards in the following amounts; first place $300, second place $200 and third place $100. The jurors for this fall’s competition are as follows; Spelman Evans Downer a full time CMC Art faculty and instructor in Digital Photography, History of Photography, and Graphic Design, Becky Boyer-Whitehurst an adjunct instructor in Computer Information Systems and currently teaching the new Web-Based Animation with Flash Class, and professional visual artist and former CMC Adjunct Instructor Steve Rieman.
The event will take place on the CMC Campus in room 219. There will be two sessions of showings from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information please contact Spelman Evans Downer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 760.366.3791 extension 228.
