CHARLES CARROLL READING AT COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE
JOSHUA TREE, Ca – Charles A. Carroll will be the featured author at Copper Mountain College on November 17th at 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Carroll’s book, Hard Candy: Nobody Ever Flies Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is a heart wrenching non-fiction account of his confinement as a child in America’s mental health system. Though of normal intelligence, the author was labeled as mentally incompetent and locked into a system that subjected him, as well as countless other children, to base and brutal dehumanization. That Carroll survived and wrote his book is not only a testimony to the resiliency of the human spirit but to Mr. Carroll’s determination to spare other children from such degradation at the hands of those who are entrusted with their well being.
Mr. Carroll will present information about the meaning of child abuse, pedophilia, and its side effects from the victim’s perspective, and demonstrate how attendees can become an advocate for victims.
This reading is part of an ongoing series of author and speaker events sponsored by the Copper Mountain College Foundation. This event being held in Bruce’s Coyote Kitchen is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
