Copper Mountain College Celebrates 2014 Graduates

    Copper Mountain College will recognize its Vocational Nursing Program Class of 2014 and Registered Nursing Program Class of 2014 graduates during a Pinning Ceremony on May 21, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. in the Bell Center Gym.  The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored celebration recognizing the completion of the rigorous course of study and welcoming these newly-graduated students into the nursing profession.   The students have chosen Captain Jay Sourbeer, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, and Mrs. Danette Mondary, RN Program faculty, as guest speakers during the ceremony.

    In addition the Commencement Ceremony for 2014 graduates will be held the following day, May 22, 2014, at 5:45 p.m. in the Bell Center Gym.

    CMC will have 142 students receiving degrees, eight students receiving two degrees and one graduating student earning three degrees.  CMC will have seven students receiving certificates of achievement and 37 graduates receiving certificates along with their degrees.  Mr. Greg Brown, Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs stated, “These graduates represent the manifestation of our college’s mission, representing our diverse desert community, prepared to go directly to work and prepared for transfer to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation.”

    The speakers for the Commencement Ceremony will be Heather Benes, CMC graduate currently Assistant Professor of English at College of the Desert, as the keynote speaker; Dean Pieper, History Professor, as the faculty speaker; and Kelly Dickey, Business Administration Major, as the honor graduate speaker.
