COPPER MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ANNOUNCES CMC SUPERINTENDENT/PRESIDENT CANDIDATE FORUM
JOSHUA TREE, Ca –Members of the college community and the public will be able to meet and hear presentations from the finalists for the position of Superintendent/President of Copper Mountain College on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. and Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. at the Copper Mountain College Coyote Kitchen. Each of the four candidates will have 30 minutes to speak and answer questions.
The forums will be moderated by Dr. Rodger McGinness, Dean of Instruction. During each forum the candidates will be asked the same set of predetermined questions that have been submitted to the Human Resources Office by the college community. The audience will not have an opportunity to ask questions.
The candidate forums will be in the following order:
Monday, May 19th:
3:00 p.m. Dr. Gaither Lowenstein
4:00 p.m. Dr. Joe Olson
Tuesday, May 20th:
1:00 p.m. Dr. Allan Hoffman
2:00 p.m. Dr. Roger Wagner
Dr. Allan Hoffman is currently Vice President of Instruction at Hartnell College since 2004. His previous work experience includes Dean and Professor at Des Moines University from 1998-2004, and he held numerous positions at California State University Dominguez Hills including, Dean, Associate Dean and Associate Professor from 1993-1998.
Dr. Gaither Lowenstein is currently Vice President of Educational Services at Riverside Community College since 2006. His previous work experience includes Dean of Social Sciences at College of the Desert during 2005-2006, and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success at Barstow Community College from 2002-2005.
Dr. Joe Olson is currently Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services at Copper Mountain College since July of 2007. Dr. Olson joined CMC after working for Los Angeles City College as Acting Dean for Student Services from 2006-2007, and before that as President of Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY.
Dr. Roger Wagner is currently Vice President of Instruction at Copper Mountain College since July of 2007. Before joining CMC Dr. Wagner held the positions of Dean of Technical Education and Business/Community Relations from 2005-2007 and Associate Dean of Instruction at Crowder College from 2000-2005.
Each of the four candidates were chosen to advance in the process by the Presidential Search Committee consisting of a member from each constituency group on campus, community members and a student representative. The Board of Trustees will interview each candidate and choose the next Superintendent/President for Copper Mountain College. The candidate chosen for the position will take over on July 1st from Interim Superintendent/President Patricia Caldwell who assumed the interim position last August.
