Constitution Reading, Moms & Apple Pie.

    September 9, 2013

Copper Mountain College Cultural Education Enhancement Committee will be honoring National Moms and Apple Pie month and Constitution day with a public reading of the American Constitution by CMC history students, and an apple pie bake-off. Attending Moms will receive special attention.

The event is free and open to the public with an invitation to submit home-made apple pies for best taste awards.  Come and join the fun on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 12 – 1 p.m. at the Bell Center Community Room.

While our forefathers were toiling away with concepts of equality and freedom, our foremothers were addressing important diversity issues by perfecting apple pie recipes.
There are many stories as to why Apple Pie has become an American Staple, “Some say that soldiers during World War II coined the phrase ‘For mom and apple pie,’ while others claim apple orchards marketed ‘as American as apple pie’ during prohibition when cider production was outlawed”.  Whatever you think the reason might be it is here to stay.

Please submit your fresh baked pies to the judges who will be located in the Community Room by 11:45 a.m.  Contact Cathy Allen 760-366-3791 ext. 0600 for more information.

                                              Take the next step!
