Annual Fall Gala “A Patriotic Party” Hosted by Copper Mountain College Foundation, October 28, 2012
October 18, 2012
Copper Mountain College Foundation is holding their annual Fall Gala and this year’s theme is “A Patriotic Party”. We will be saluting our CMC students on Sunday, October 28th at the Helen Gray Center in Joshua Tree.
Don your red, white and blue and join us Sunday, October 28 from 5-9 p.m. at the Helen Gray Center. Hear motivational student speakers including Misty Evans from the nursing program, Greg Yarbrough, our own veteran alumni and the Phi Theta Kappa officers and delegates who will regale us with the highlights of their Honors Institute trip to Denver. Financial Aid Specialist David Shook and the Color Guard will honor our flag and you will each have an opportunity to VOTE FOR CMC STUDENTS in a very special way! Don’t miss the fun!
In addition, Carol Salisbury Babcock, seen in the photo, has hand-sewn a patriotic quilt, which will be auctioned at the gala. This year’s queen size quilt represents the “Flying Geese”; one of several secret code patterns said to be used by quilters sympathetic to slaves seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War era.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available online at www.cmccd.edu. All proceeds benefit the students of Copper Mountain College. This past year the CMC Foundation has facilitated over $105,000 worth of scholarships, sent the Speech & Debate Team to National Championships in Chicago, hosted the National Association of Geo-science Teachers - Far Western Section, purchased two sets of encyclopedias for the library, subsidized bus transportation for all students, repaired the kiln in the art room, replaced the security gates around campus, and much more………..all thanks to your generosity. Tickets are $75 and this year we are offering a special student sponsorship opportunity for $30. For more information or to RSVP contact the Foundation at 760-366-3791 ext. 5012 or online at www.cmccd.edu.
