CMC’s First Three of Twelve Complete Internship Programs
August 17, 2012
The Copper Mountain College Community Partners Internship Program has had the first three of twelve students complete their summer internships.
One of the foremost success stories of the Internship Program is Lily Shelton who interned at Bighorn Desert View Water Agency in the front office. She is pictured with the District General Manager, Marina West. After completing her internship, Lily applied for an open position at BDVWA and was hired as an employee. Lily is still continuing her education at CMC while she works.
Two other interns that completed their hours: Melina Yanagi who interned at Joshua Basin Water District in the financial department and Kimberlyn Davis who interned at the Best Western in Yucca Valley and worked in every department.
The Internship Program started in June and has been very successful. Students are gaining much needed experience and will receive an Amazon Kindle, generously donated by the Copper Mountain College Foundation upon completion.
The program can also benefit students by taking advantage of listing it on their university application or resume. In addition, it can open up networking opportunities with others in the same career field and lead to job opportunities.
Internships with the Copper Mountain College Community Partners Internship Program will continue throughout the 2012/2013 school year. If any current students are interested in this exciting program contact the coordinator, Jeff Drozd at 760-366-3791 ext. 0543 or e-mail Jeff at firstname.lastname@example.org
