May 21, 2012
The commencement ceremony for 2012 graduates will be held on the Copper Mountain College campus on May 25, 2012, at 6:45 p.m. in the Bell Center Gym.
Students at CMC must meet full requirements for graduation. CMC will have 180 students receiving degrees, 22 students receiving two degrees and 1 graduating student earning three degrees. CMC’s youngest graduate this year will be seventeen years old and our oldest will be 67. CMC will have 38 students receiving certificates of achievement and 29 graduates receiving certificates along with their degrees. Mr. Greg Brown, Vice President of Student Services stated, “These graduates represent the manifestation of our college’s mission, representing our diverse desert community, prepared to go directly to work and prepared for transfer to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation.”
The speakers for the commencement will be Owen Gillick, long time Foundation and Board member as our keynote speaker, Cathy Itnyre as our faculty speaker and Yucheng Geng, as our honor graduate speaker. Yucheng says, “I learned three elements of success: think outside the box, use tools and finish the work today, not postpone it to a tomorrow that may never come”.
