Free BBQ & Concert at Copper Mountain College Foundation’s First Ever Alumni Association Event on May 5th.

    April 19, 2012

The Foundation will host its first Alumni Association BBQ on May 5th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Alumni Courtyard on the CMC campus.  All students past and present, their families and friends are encouraged to attend.  Come and enjoy a festive day at CMC with FREE BBQ, a bounce house and games for the kids, music, entertainment, raffle prizes and much more!

Sandy Smith, Executive Director of the Foundation says, "One of Copper Mountain College Foundation's top priorities is to revitalize our CMC Alumni Association.  We have past students, graduates and families throughout the Morongo Basin with a strong connection to CMC and we want to honor them and also engage them with all that is happening on campus.  This BBQ is a kickoff to those wonderful new relationships."

In conjunction with the Alumni BBQ there is a free lecture in the Bell Center Community Room with Gerald Clarke.  He is an artist and a member of the Cahuilla Reservation.  He will be talking about his art and singing Bird Songs (traditional Cahuilla music).  The lecture will be from 1:00 to 2:00.

In addition the CMC MultiMedia Club will be hosting a free two hour concert from the award winning band “EVARO”.  The concert will be held in the Bell Center Gym from 2-4 p.m.  While performing their authentic blend of jazz, soul, funk, Latin, reggae, rock and more the MultiMedia Club will be documenting the concert with a multi camera shoot. In addition the club and other students from the Digital Photography class will be recording the concert using a computer multi-track recording system. Later, the footage and recordings will be edited into a documentary style concert video.

EVARO’s success has taken them to well-known venues from The Mint in Los Angeles & The Whiskey a Go Go (where they were voted Whiskey’s Favorite Band April 2010), to local historic Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, as well as a successful multi-city tour of the Hawaiian Islands. The band members are Gene Evaro Jr. on guitar, keyboards, saxophone & more, Bryanna Evaro on bass guitar, Ben Kennedy on drums, Shavaughn Evaro on vocals & percussion and finally Gabriella Evaro on vocal, percussion and guitar.  For more about EVARO you can visit
