    Copper Mountain College’s Speech & Debate Team Attends Pacific Southwestern Collegiate Forensics Association's Fall Championship Tournament Participating with 38 Community Colleges and Universities from California and Arizona.

    Copper Mountain College’s Speech & Debate Team recently attended the Pacific Southwestern Collegiate Forensics Association's Fall Championship Tournament at Cerritos College. CMC competed with 38 Community Colleges and Universities from California and Arizona.

    CMC students traveling to the Tournament included Amelia Dutt, Anthony Matthews, DylanTandoli-Garr, Edward Pointer, Jennifer Dexter, Josh Bates, Kyrstina Mason, Matt Evans, and Will Bengtson.

    In the novice category, five team members won awards. Matt Evans took 6th place while Amelia Dutt received 9th place in the Informative Speaking category. In After Dinner Speaking, Anthony Matthews received 5th place. In Prose Interpretation of Literature, Dylan Tandoli-Garr took 12th. In Impromptu Speaking (with 85 entries) Edward Pointer received 3rd place. Everyone at CMC congratulates all team members.  “The students worked very hard on their speeches and I am very proud of all the students who attended Fall Champs. The students and I are very thankful to Dr. Wagner, Sandy, and the Foundation for their support in making this tournament happen," says Reyna M. Velarde, Speech Communication Professor and Speech & Debate Team Advisor.
