    CMC RECOGNIZES Emergency Medical Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides

    JOSHUA TREE, Ca – Copper Mountain College will recognize its Fall 2011 Emergency Medical Technician, Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide graduates during a ceremony on December 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Bell Center on the Copper Mountain College campus.

    CMC offers the Emergency Medical Technician course each semester.  The course of study includes 72 hours of classroom instruction, 38 hours of skills demonstration and 70 hours of field experience.  Students study and practice the fundamental principles and skills required to provide care to patients experiencing trauma and emergency medical conditions.  Upon successful completion of this course of study, the students are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination and apply for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician – 1.

    CMC offers the Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Programs each semester.  The Programs prepare men and women to assist with the routine care and treatment of patients in long-term care facilities, hospitals and their homes.  Certified Nursing Assistants and Certified Home Health Aides work under the direction of the nursing and medical staff.  The Nursing Assistant course of study includes 72 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 100 hours of clinical instruction; the Home Health Aide course of study includes 27 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of 27 hours of clinical instruction.  The students who have successfully completed the Programs are eligible to take the State-approved exams that lead to certification.
