Copper Mountain College Announces New Student Government Inductees for 2011-2012 School Year

    August 29, 2011

The Associated Students of Copper Mountain College (ASCMC), the student government arm of CMC, recently inducted 25 students into the organization. CMC student, Riley Walters, will serve as President of ASCMC for the 2011-2012 school year.
ASCMC’s purpose, according to CMC Professor and ASCMC Faculty Advisor, Joe DeSantis, is “to act as a support structure to help make decisions for the college. In both the ASCMC class and the ASCMC student leadership organization, this is a chance for the students to have a voice or seat at the table at Board of Trustees and College Council (leadership board) meetings. ASCMC also provides representation in the community and on the various CMC college committees.”
Students can participate in ASCMC for as long as they choose, although there is a term limit on officer positions. ASCMC offers students a direct way to be involved while at CMC.  The organization is hoping to have a campus spirit day this school year. ASCMC also works with the CMC Foundation, the dozen student clubs at CMC and acts as liaison for different campus events.  “The top priority for us at ASCMC is to have fun,” notes President Walters. Membership is open and meetings are on Friday afternoons from 3-5 on the main campus.  Visit and link to the student government page and find additional information on ASCMC under campus life.
