Copper Mountain College Foundation Announces 2011 Greenleaf Scholar

    Copper Mountain College Foundation held its annual awards ceremony Tuesday, May 24, 2011 to announce this year’s Roy Greenleaf, Jr. Educational Fund scholarship finalists and winner. A Yucca Valley High School senior is this year’s recipient, with Twentynine Palms High School, and Monument High School also being represented among the finalists.  
    As the 2011 Greenleaf Scholar, Roberto De La Cruz will receive funding for tuition, books and living expenses while he completes an AA degree at Copper Mountain College and a four year degree at a California State University or University of California campus.  
    Roberto has been active in helping others with his church and he is a member of the Yucca Valley High School Marching Band.   Roberto would like to become an Audio Engineer and work in the Music Industry.
    The finalists this year were Brittney Candelaria from Twentynine Palms High School, Arielle Thomas  from Yucca Valley High School, and Lily Pressnall from Monument High School.  Each received a certificate and $500.
    This scholarship was established by the trust of the late Roy Greenleaf, Jr., a banker and benefactor who bequeathed his estate to the CMC Foundation to help students achieve their educational dreams.
