    BECOME A TUTOR

     

    To be eligible to become a tutor, you must meet these requirements.

    • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better and be in good standing at CMC.
    • Have received a grade of "A" or "B" in the subject you would like to tutor.
    • Have an instructor sign your application card.
    • Complete the tutor training class.

     

    STEPS TO BECOMING A TUTOR

     

    1. Go to the Student Success Center (Room 636, Bell Center) and ask for a green application card to become a tutor.
    2. Ask your instructor, for the subject that you want to tutor, to sign the application card to verify you had at least a "B" in the course.
    3. Return the card  to Human Resources (Phase I) and fill out additional paper work.
    4. If you meet the eligibility requirements and there is an opening in that subject area you will be contacted about attending the next tutor training class.
    5. Upon successful completion of the tutor training course you will be required to go to Human Resources to complete their paperwork and required tests.
    6. CONGRATULATIONS! You're now a CMC tutor!

     


     

    TUTOR TRAINING

     

    Copper Mountain College tutors are trained through the Student Success Center using an approved tutor training program.  Copper Mountain College has two levels of tutor training ASC 5A and ASC 5B.

     

    ASC 5A

    Credit: .5 unit

    Prerequisite: Recommendation from instructor in the subject area and currently be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.

     Date and Time: To be determined.

     

    ASC 5B

    Credit: .5 unit

    Prerequisite: Student must have a recommendation from instructor in the subject area and currently be enrolled in at least 6 units.  Tutor must have successfully completed ASC 5A and have received a grade of "B" or better in the subject to be tutored.
